CIBAFI Held a Dialogue with Iraqi Islamic Banks in Manama

CIBAFI held a Dialogue with a Delegation of Iraqi Islamic Banks in Manama, And in the presence of the President of the Association of Iraqi private banks Eng. Wadih al-Handal, Kingdom of Bahrain\n26th March 2018, Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain | This morning a delegation led by Iraqi Private Banks League, comprising over 14 Chief Executives and senior officials representing over 10 Islamic banks from Iraq, held a dialogue with CIBAFI – the Global umbrella of Islamic Financial Institutions (IFIs) at the Al Baraka Banking Group Head Quarters in Manama.A dynamic dialogue between Iraqi bankers has led to in-depth discussion on the way CIBAFI can support banks in Iraq and establish a working relationship with other global members of CIBAFI. Discussion has also covered the consultation process which CIBAFI is currently undergoing for its upcoming Strategic Plan ‎2019-2022.Commenting on the meeting, Mr Abdelilah Belatik, Secretary General of CIBAFI said: “I am pleased to welcome my colleagues and friends from Iraq in Bahrain, it was a fruitful meeting, we are also pleased to welcome membership request from 7 banks from Iraq which will expand our existing membership in the country,\nCIBAFI is also committed to support banks in Iraq from human capital development and global membership benefits as we move forward.” Anchor agreement for human capital development series of programs has been signed at the meeting between CIBAFI and the Iraqi Private Banks League. CIBAFI, as the ‘voice’ of the industry, continues to support the IFSI through various activities and initiatives. These include policy regulatory advocacy, providing industry stakeholders with a platform to discuss emerging issues, representing the industry at major global financial events, and sharing knowledge through specialized publications and comprehensive professional development programs.
