Under the auspices of Mr. Aso Feridun, Governor of Sulaymaniyah, and with the presence of a group of officials, representatives of the Iraqi economic and banking sector and high profile personalities, Ashur Bank inaugurated its new branch in Al Sulaymaniya on November 8, 2015.

The inauguration ceremony started by a welcoming speech given by Mr. Mr. Wadea Al Handal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ashur International Bank for Investment and Head of the Iraqi private banks association. Mr. Al Handal praised the support offered by Sulaymaniyah province and the Iraqi central bank to encourage the development of the banking sector and as a result the development of the economic and social structure in Al Suleymaniyah. In this regard, Mr. Al Handal stressed that the bank’s mission statement focuses on supporting small and medium enterprises within a comprehensive framework based on cooperation between the Iraqi Central Bank and the rest of other operating banks with the objective of boosting national economy.

In the same context, Mr. Abed Al-Rahman Saleh Rashid, General Manager of the Central Bank of Sulaimaniyah, praised the step taken by Ashur bank to open its new branch in the province with the objective of providing distinctive banking services and products for citizens. He mentioned that the Central Bank shall provide the new branch with every possible support to enable it overcome obstacles facing the development of the banking sector in Iraq.

He considered the opening of a new branch of Ashur International Bank for Investment, which has a good reputation due to its strong financial solvency in Sulaimaniyah, an important and essential step to boost the banking business, and called for more cooperation in the coming future.

The attendees took a tour in the branch, and were briefed about the distinguished services that shall be provided though this branch.
